South of Wilkes Ave and Wilkes/Waverly Park with its small lake is the community of Linden Woods, which has been under development for the past 15 years. This community is centered around a 13 acre lake and adjoining Van Walleghem and Muys Parks. Lindenwoods has a community centre and two schools. Due to it's great location and the price of homes offered, a shopping centre was recently developed that offers many big name retail stores including WalMart, Canadian Tire, Sobey's, Safeway, and Blockbuster just to name a few.

This community’s schools are managed by the Pembina Trails School Division . Lindenwoods two schools: a K-S1 school, Linden Meadows and Van Walleghem with Van Walleghem offering French immersion K-8. The areas closest High School, Vincent Massey Collegiate, is located east of Lindenwoods and South Winnipeg Technical Centre is located just minutes south of the community. The area has one public library (near Vincent Massey Collegiate), and Lindenwoods is very convenient to the Univerity of Manitoba campus to the south.

Recreation in Lindenwoods
This area is one of the best in the city for recreation. Just to the north east is Grant Park with its Pan Am Aquatic Centre and athletic field. Just north of the train tracks is Wilkes/Waverly Park with the Kinsmen Recreation and Fitness Centre and small lake, and the Winnipeg Soccer complex is 5 minutes east. To the west is the Assiniboine Forest with its numerous hiking and cross-country skiing trails and the municipal Tuxedo Golf Course. The centerpiece of the community is the Assiniboine Park, with its formal gardens, pond, cricket pitch, miniature train, the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden, English Garden and International Goodwill Garden, and pedestrian bridge to the north bank of the Assiniboine River, and last but not least, the Assiniboine Zoo. The community has 2 outdoor rinks and the closest cinemas are nearby Grant Park, with Polo Park just across the river. The Shelley Shearer School of Dance and Tae Ryong Park Tae Kwon Do & Hapkido Academy are two well respected schools and are just minutes away from Lindenwoods.
Shopping Near Lindenwoods
Shopping in the area is includes the many big name retail stores. WalMart, Canadian Tire, IGA, Safeway at the corners of McGillivary Blvd and Kenaston in addition to the Waverly and Wilkes intersection strip mall. Also the Tree-lined Academy Road, between Kenaston and Elm Streets, has a variety of gourmet food stores, gift shops, as well as upscale boutiques, restaurants and services. Within close range are two small malls, Tuxedo Park on Corydon, and Kenaston Village on Grant. For major shopping expeditions, many area residents head north east to Grant Park Shopping Centre, and south to Pembina Crossing, both malls have movie theatres.
